Peking University (abbreviation PKU or colloquially known in Chinese as Běidà 北大), is a major Chinese research university located in Beijing, and a member of the C9 League. It is the first established modern national university of China, founded as the "Imperial University of Peking" in 1898 as a replacement of the ancient Guozijian.By 1920 it had become a center for progressive thought. Today, Peking University is frequently placed as one of the best universities in China by many domestic and international rankings. In addition to academics, Peking University is especially renowned for its campus grounds, and the beauty of its traditional Chinese architecture.
Throughout its history, the university has educated and hosted many prominent modern Chinese thinkers, including figures such as: Lu Xun, Mao Zedong, Gu Hongming, Hu Shih, Li Dazhao, and Chen Duxiu. Peking University was influential in the birth of China's New Culture Movement, May Fourth Movement, the Tiananmen Square protest of 1989 and many other significant events.


Tsinghua University (sometimes abbreviated as THU) is a research university located in Beijing, China, and one of the nine members in the C9 League.

The institution was originally established in 1911 under the name "Tsinghua College" and had been renamed several times since then: from "Tsinghua School" which was used one year after its establishment, to "National Tsinghua University" which was adopted three years after the foundation of its university section in 1925. With its motto of Self-Discipline and Social Commitment, Tsinghua University describes itself as being dedicated to academic excellence, the well-being of Chinese society and to global development. It has been consistently regarded by most domestic and international university rankings as one of the top higher learning institutions in mainland China.






Fudan University (simplified Chinese: 复旦大学; traditional Chinese: 復旦大學; pinyin: Fùdàn Dàxué) is a university located in Shanghai, China, and a member in the C9 League and Universitas 21.
As founded by its institutional predecessor in 1905 shortly before the end of China's imperial Qing dynasty, it is among the oldest modern universities of the country. Fudan is now composed of four campuses, including Handan (邯鄲), Fenglin (楓林), Zhangjiang (張江), and Jiangwan (江灣).


Starting from the 1950s, Fudan has enrolled international students — one of the first few institutions in China to do so. Since then, Fudan has accepted and trained over 10,000 foreign students from 100 countries and regions worldwide. At the end of 2006, there were 2,812 international students studying at Fudan University, ranked number 2 in the nation. Half of them were actively pursuing degrees, the rest were general visiting scholars. In addition, Fudan enrolls over 1700 short-term students each year.

The international student programs consist of degree programs and non-degree programs. The university has also established a Bachelor of Arts program called the "Chinese language for international students" and there have been seven groups of graduates. Besides all levels of Chinese language teaching, the university has opened courses such as Chinese literature, Chinese history, Chinese economy, Chinese philosophy and Chinese law for interested international students. These courses will introduce students to basic knowledge of Chinese social economy, history and culture, according to their different requirements. In addition, several graduate programs are offered in English. For instance Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Health, as well as other programs offered in conjunction with partner universities abroad. 
The university's programs in medicine leading to the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree are also available to international students.

The International Students Office is responsible for the management of all international students at Fudan University.


4-UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is a national research university in Hefei, Anhui, China, under the direct leadership of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). It is a member of the C9 League formed by nine top universities in China. Founded in Beijing by the CAS in September 1958, it was moved to Hefei in the beginning of 1970 during the Cultural Revolution.
The inception and mission of USTC was in response to the urgent need for the national economy, defense construction, and education in science and technology. It has been featured by its competence on scientific and technological research and expanded into humanities and management with a strong scientific and engineering emphasis. USTC has 12 schools, 27 departments, the Special Class for the Gifted Young, the Experimental Class for the Teaching Reform, the Graduate Schools (Hefei, Shanghai, Suzhou), School of Management (Beijing), the Software School, School of Network Education, and School of Continuing Education.
There are more than 3600 faculty and staff numbers, 22 CAS and CAE academicians, 432 professors. The number of students accepting normal higher education at USTC totals around 13794, 8243 undergraduate students, 3873 master degree students, and 1498 Ph.D. students among them. Besides, it also has 1575 professional master degree students, 110 post-doctoral fellows and 134 guest professors.


Nanjing University (NJU or NU, simplified Chinese: 南京大学; traditional Chinese: 南京大學; pinyin: Nánjīng Dàxué; colloquially 南大, Nándà), or Nanking University, is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher learning in China. Following many changes through dynasties since CE 258, it was established as a modern new-type school in 1902 in the end period of Qing Dynasty, and became a modern university in the early 1920s, the early years of Republic of China, and is the first Chinese modern university with the combination of education and research. Before the eve of establishment of People's Republic of China in 1949, the name was changed from National Central University to Nanjing University.
Nanjing University is a comprehensive research university. It is a member of the C9 League and Yangtze Delta Universities Alliance. NU is a national university directly under the Ministry of Education of PRC, largely financed by China central and also local Jiangsu provincial finance. Nanjing University has two campuses: Gulou campus, located in the centre of Nanjing City, and Xianlin campus, located in northeast of Nanjing southern to Yangtse River, which is the home to most undergraduate students and graduate students of several departments.



Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Chinese: 上海交通大学; abbreviated Jiao Da (交大) or SJTU), also referred to as Shanghai Jiaotong University (no space) or simply Jiaotong University, is a public research university located in Shanghai, China. It is renowned as one of the oldest and most prestigious and selective universities in China. It is a member of the C9 League and Yangtze Delta Universities Alliance in China.

Today SJTU has 31 schools (departments), 63 undergraduate programs, 250 masters-degree programs, 203 Ph.D. programs, 28 post-doctorate programs, and 11 state key laboratories and national engineering research centers.
Its total enrollment of students amounts to 42,881, of which 1,598 are international students. There are 17,766 undergraduates, and 24,017 masters and Ph.D. candidates.



Renmin University of China; RUC, also known as People's University of China (simplified Chinese: 中国人民大学; traditional Chinese: 中國人民大學; pinyin: Zhōngguó Rénmín Dàxué), colloquially Renda (Chinese: 人大; pinyin: Réndà), is a major research university in Haidian District, Beijing. Its campus neighbors those of Peking University and Tsinghua University.
Renmin University is one of the most prestigious universities in China, with a distinct focus on humanities and social sciences. Renmin University has produced many influential figures in China's reform and development, and is home to many outstanding scholars in law, economics, journalism and other fields. As measured by admission scores of China's National Higher Education Entrance Examination, Renmin University has consistently ranked among the top three most selective Chinese universities in the liberal arts and social science division.
The High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China is one of the most prestigious high schools in Beijing, and a sister school of Phillips Academy in Massachusetts, Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire and Punahou Academy in Honolulu.

Sun Yat-sen University (simplified Chinese: 中山大学; traditional Chinese: 中山大學; pinyin: Zhōngshān Dàxué) is a public university located in Guangdong, the most economically developed province in China. The university was founded in 1924 by Sun Yat-sen, a Chinese revolutionary, first president and founding father of the Republic of China.
Reputed as "the top university in south China", Sun Yat-sen University is one of the most prestigious and selective universities in China. The university provides undergraduate and graduate instruction in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, technology, medical science, pharmacology and managerial science.
The university's assets include the world's fastest supercomputer Tianhe-2, which is valued at 2.4 billion Yuan. The university also has the largest affiliated hospital system in China.



Zhejiang University (ZJU, also known as Chekiang University; simplified Chinese: 浙江大学; traditional Chinese: 浙江大學; pinyin: Zhèjiāng Dàxué; Wade–Giles: Che-chiang-ta-hsüeh), sometimes referred to as Zheda, is a national university in China. Founded in 1897, Zhejiang University is one of China's oldest institutions of higher education. It is a member of the C9 League and Yangtze Delta Universities Alliance.
Zhejiang University is located in the city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, approximately 112 miles (180 km) southwest of Shanghai. Zhejiang University Library collection contains about 7 million volumes, making it one of the largest academic libraries in the country.
Zhejiang University is a comprehensive research university with distinctive features and a national as well as international impact. Research at Zhejiang University spans 12 academic disciplines, covering philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, art, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine and management. Beijing Normal University (simplified Chinese: 北京师范大学; traditional Chinese: 北京師範大學; pinyin: Běijīng Shīfàn Dàxué), colloqiually known as 北师大 or Beishida, is a public research university located in Beijing with strong emphasis on basic disciplines of humanities and sciences. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in China.
A normal school referred to an institution that aimed to train school teachers in early twentieth century, and this terminology is preserved in the official names of such institutions in China.
So far the university has altogether 55 undergraduate degree programs, 162 master programs, and 100 doctoral programs. Sixteen of them are honored as national key disciplines (see below), including 5 general disciplines and 11 specialized disciplines, and are recognized as among the top ranked in China:
There are 74 research laboratories, including 4 National Key Labs (see below), 7 Key Labs of Ministry of Education, and 5 Key Labs of Beijing Municipality. Key research centers and bases include 7 key research bases in humanities and social sciences of Ministry of Education, 2 research centers of Engineering & Technology of Beijing Municipality, 3 research centers jointly-established with Beijing Municipality, and more than 40 other research centers of all kinds. Furthermore, the university has an institute for Proteomics which is the only one established in universities by Ministry of Education. Besides, the university has established a Science Park which covers an area of 6 hectares.



China Agricultural University (Chinese: 中国农业大学; pinyin: Zhōngguó Nóngyè Dàxué; abbreviated 农大/Nóngdà) is a university in Beijing, People's Republic of China specializing in agriculture, biology, engineering, veterinary medicine, economics, management, humanities and social science. It was formed in 1995 through the merger of the Beijing Agricultural University and the Beijing Agricultural Engineering University. At present there are around 12,500 undergraduate and 7,000 graduate students  studying in the university. The new gymnasium, hosted the wrestling events during the 2008 Summer Olympics.
China Agricultural University Library consists of two parts, east library (No.17 Qinghua Dong Lu) and west library (No.2 Yuanmingyuan Xi Lu) occupying 21,665 square meters and hosting 2774 reading seats. China Agricultural University Library (CAUL) is one of the most important libraries in agricultural education and research in China. The collections include both paper documents numbering more than 1.7 million volumes and over 1.47 million electronic documents. The collections emphasize agricultural science, biology and agricultural engineering. 116 library staff work in the library including 39 research librarians and associate research librarians. 29 library staff are post-graduates. CAUL also functions as National Agricultural Information Center of CALIS (China Academic Library & Information System) and National Foreign Textbook Center in Agriculture. Haidian District Agriculture Library is affiliated with the China Agricultural University Library. CAUL established an automatic information service system in 1995. This now runs efficiently and successfully. User education is one of the main functions of CAUL. The library provides different kinds of training courses and workshops to students and faculty every year. CAUL has been actively developing international communication and cooperation. CAUL will pursue collection development, personalized information services and resources sharing.




The Harbin Institute of Technology (abbreviation: HIT, known colloquially in Chinese as Hā GōngDà) is a research university and a member of the C9 League in China consisting of three campuses, which nearly span the country from north to south: the Harbin campus in Heilongjiang Province, the Weihai campus in Shandong Province and the Shenzhen graduate school in Guangdong Province.
HIT undertakes research and numerous projects covered by official secrets (e.g. in space science and defense-related technologies) which may have a bearing on its international ranking, although it is widely recognized as one of the top universities in the country, especially when it comes to local science and engineering league tables. HIT is one of only ten universities in the world that have designed, built, and launched their own satellites (in 2004, 2008 and 2013). It made the largest contribution to the success of the Shenzhou series spacecraft and Kuaizhou series spacecraft. One minor planet (#55838) is named after the Harbin Institute of Technology and nicknamed "Hagongda Star" by the International Astronomical Union for HIT's achievements in science and engineering.
Harbin Institute of Technology is organized into 20 full-time schools, which hold 73 undergraduate degree programs, 143 master programs and 81 doctorate programs. Though most of HIT’s schools focus on science and engineering , it also has several schools offering course in humanities, social sciences, and management. HIT does not have an agriculture or medical school. A school may have several departments and research institutes (or research centers), however, the Department of Media Technology and Art does not belong to any of the schools.




The Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST; simplified Chinese: 华中科技大学(华中理工大学); traditional Chinese: 華中科技大學(華中理工大學); pinyin: Huázhōng Kējì Dàxué; literally "Central China University of Science and Technology") is a public, coeducational research university located in Wuhan, Hubei province, China. As a national key university, HUST is directly affiliated to the Ministry of Education of China. HUST has been referred as the flagship of China's higher education system after Chinese Civil War. HUST manages Wuhan National Laboratories for Opto-electronics (WNLO) at Wuchang, which is one of the five national laboratories in China.
Academic life has always been put in the first place by HUST students. As the initial mission of early HUST, HUST graduates were expected to possess the skills and abilities for becoming outstanding experts in their science fields. However, the education in arts and literature were strengthened by the school since late 1980s. Chinese literature is a required course for any degrees or programs at HUST. Former president of HUST, Shuzi Yang is an enthusiastic advocate to bring courses of arts and humanities into the curriculum. His great efforts make many HUST graduates not only the experts in science, but also the leaders in their fields.



14-JILIN UNIVERSITY
Jilin University (simplified Chinese: 吉林大学; traditional Chinese: 吉林大學; pinyin: Jílín Dàxué; often abbreviated JLU or 吉大) is a leading national university under the direct jurisdiction of China's Ministry of Education.
Located in Changchun, the capital city of Jilin Province in Northeast China, the university has eight campuses in five districts which are home to thirty-nine colleges covering eleven academic disciplines, including philosophy, economics, law, literature, education, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, and management. The University has sixteen disciplinary areas,five national key laboratories, and eight national bases for the development of basic science. Other resources include five research bases for humanities and social sciences, seven key laboratories sponsored by the Ministry of Education and eleven by other ministries of Chinese government.
Jilin University is one of the most prestigious "Top 10" universities in China, and has several research projects in automobile engineering, chemistry, computer science, electrical engineering and biology. JLU also provides undergraduate and graduate programs in law, literature, philosophy and veterinary science. It is one of the key universities involved in China's Project 985 and Project 211.
Jilin University is a comprehensive and national key university. JLU offers a variety of degree programs. It has now 115 undergraduate programs, 192 Master's degree program, 105 doctoral degree programs, and seventeen post-doctoral programs. In 2003 the university enrolled 59,000 full time students, including more than 10,000 graduate students. At present there are 6,540 faculty members, with twenty members of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1270 full professors, and 1652 associate professors.



Shandong University (simplified Chinese: 山东大学; traditional Chinese: 山東大學; pinyin: Shāndōng Dàxué, abbreviated as Shanda, Chinese: 山大; pinyin: Shāndà, English acronym SDU) is a public comprehensive university in Shandong, China. It is one of the largest universities in China by student population (57,500 full-time students in 2009) and is supported directly by the national government.
Present-day Shandong University is the result of multiple mergers as well as splits and restructurings that have involved more than a dozen academic institutions over time. The oldest of Shandong University's precursor institutions, Cheeloo University, was founded by American and English mission agencies in the late 19th century (as Tengchow College of Liberal Arts in Penglai). Tengchow College was the first modern institution of higher learning in China. Shandong University derives its official founding date from the Imperial Shandong University (Chinese: 山东大学堂; pinyin: Shāndōng Dàxué Táng) established in Jinan in November 1901 as the second modern national university in the country.
Shandong University has seven campuses, all but one of which are located in the provincial capital city of Jinan. A campus to the northeast of the port city of Qingdao is under construction. The university has been classified as a National Key University by the Chinese Ministry of Education since 1960. It has been included in major national initiatives seeking to enhance the international competitiveness of the top-tier universities in China such as Project 985 and Project 211.
Shandong University offers master and doctoral degree programs in all major academic disciplines covering the humanities, science and engineering, as well as medicine.



Sichuan University (simplified Chinese: 四川大学; traditional Chinese: 四川大學; pinyin: Sìchuān Dàxué, often shortened simply to"川大") is one of the national key comprehensive universities, located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, with a long history and many predecessors, of which the earliest one was founded in 1740 with the origin in BCE 141. It was transformed to be a modern university in 1920s and the name National Sichuan University was adopted in 1931.
Sichuan University (SCU) is one of the national universities directly under the Ministry of Education (MOE). It is also one of the State 211 Project and 985 Project universities enjoying privileged construction in the Ninth Five-Year Plan period. It is ranked No. 8 among the Chinese universities according to the 2010 Academic Ranking of World Universities.
Sichuan University has a current total staff of 11,357, among which 1,323 are professors, 2,345 associate professors, 13 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, 434 tutors of doctoral students, and 17 members of the Academic Degrees Committee and the Discipline Appraisal Group under the State Council. SCU has 23 professorships from the Yangtze River Scholar AThe University has four libraries containing, in total, about 5.5 million volumes. The libraries also serves as the Collection Center for English Publications under the National Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, MOE Information Center for Liberal Arts Literature and CALIS Southwest Sub-center.The National University Scientific and Technological Projects and Achievements Consulting Center, and Center for Medical Literature Retrieval in Southwest China are served by the SCU library as well. The University Museum is the only one of its kind in China with a comprehensive collection of over 40,000 cultural relics, and over 600,000 animal and plant specimens, ranking first in its holdings among the others in China.The University Stadium is fully equipped and once served as the main field for the Sixth National Collegiate Sports Meet. Other sub-divisions available are Campus Web Center, Analytic and Testing Center, University Archive Establishment, University Press, National Foreign Language Examination Center and Intensive Language Training Center, 4 attached hospitals, and 1 attached health school. Xi'an Jiaotong University (sometimes spelled as Xi'an Jiao Tong University or Xian Jiaotong University and abbreviated as XJTU) is a national C9 League research university with a strong emphasis on engineering and technology, located in Xi'an, Shaanxi, China. It origins from Jiao Tong University, also spelled as Chiao Tung University, located in Shanghai founded in 1896 as Nanyang Public School. The original Jiaotong University was one of the top research universities in the nation. Its alumni includes scholars like An Wang and Tsien Hsue-shen. In 1956, following the national strategy, the major portion of Jiao Tong University moved to Xi'an, Shaanxi and later became Xi'an Jiaotong University. The remaining portion in Shanghai later became Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Some alumni of the original Jiaotong University (Chiao Tung University) established (or refer as "re-established") the National Chiao Tung University in Hsinchu, Taiwan after the Chinese Civil War and the government of Republic of China's relocation to Taiwan.

Today, Xi'an Jiaotong University is a comprehensive research university offering programs in nine areas—science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, art, law, philosophy and education—with an emphasis on science and engineering. It includes 20 schools, eight undergraduate residential colleges, and eight affiliated teaching hospitals. XJTU has a faculty and staff of more than 5500, of which 2500 are full-time teachers, including over 1500 professors and associate professors. The faculty includes 21 academicians—nine members of the National Academy of Sciences and twelve members of the National 
Academy of Engineering—among whom twelve are members of both. The university has had five recipients of national teaching awards. Among current faculty members, 38 have been designated as “Chang JIang Scholars” by the Ministry of Education; 25 have been honored by National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars; 15 have been recognized as national experts who have made outstanding contributions to the nation. XJTU has a current enrollment of more than 30,000 full-time students, including over 13,000 masters and doctoral candidates. The university offers 78 undergraduate majors, and awards masters degrees in 200 disciplines and Ph.D. degrees in 115. Among these, there are 8 which are designated as first-order key disciplines by the Chinese government, and 37 which are designated as second–order key disciplines. In addition, 115 disciplines are recognized as key disciplines at the provincial and ministerial level. XJTU offers Master degrees 18 areas, including engineering, clinical medicine, business, and MPA; it has 20 research facilities for post-doctoral students, four national key laboratories, four national special laboratories, two national engineering research centers and 59 key research centers and laboratories at the provincial and ministerial level.



Beihang University, previously known as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (simplified Chinese: 北京航空航天大学; traditional Chinese: 北京航空航天大學, abbreviated as BUAA or Beihang) is a major public research university located in Beijing, China.
It is a member of China's Project 211 and Project 985 group of key state universities, with a heavy focus on high level technological and scientific research. BUAA was founded on October 25, 1952 with an area of over 100 hectares, BUAA is one of China's leading universities on research and education. It is regarded as one of the best engineering universities in China and has a great influence on China's aeronautical and astronautical industry.
Since 1952, this university was named the "Beijing Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics". Since May 1988, it has been known as the "Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics". In 2002, the university board decided to change the English name of the university to Beihang University, yet the abbreviation BUAA was retained.
BUAA was among the nation' s first 16 key universities back in the 1950' s, and among the top 15 for priority development during China' s 7th five-year-plan period (1986–1990). During the 8th five-year-plan it was listed among the top 14 for priority development, and at the start of the 9th five-year-plan BUAA was among the first batch of 15 universities in "project 211 for Higher Education." As it entered the new century and millennium, the university was again listed in China' s Action Plan for the Revitalization of Education in the 21st Century. Thanks to the tireless efforts of several generations of people BUAA has grown into an open, multi-disciplined, research-oriented university of engineering science and technology with an emphasis on aeronautical and astronautical engineering. Central South University (CSU) located in Changsha, a historic and cultural city in Hunan province, central south of the People's Republic of China. CSU was established in April 2000 on the basis of the amalgamation of the three former individual universities, namely Central South University of Technology (founded in 1952), Hunan Medical University (founded in 1914 as Hsiang-ya Medical College; currently named Xiangya School of Medicine) and Changsha Railway University (founded in 1953).
CSU is a comprehensive research university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. CSU is among the first tier universities in China and also a member of the Project 211 and the Project 985 with strength in science engineering and medical science. According to the newest data in Chinese University Ranking, CSU ranks 16th out of 2000 universities in China.

Dalian University of Technology (DUT) (simplified Chinese: 大连理工大学; traditional Chinese: 大連理工大學; pinyin: Dàlián Lǐgōng Dàxué), colloquially known in Chinese as Dagong (大工, Dàgōng), is a public research university located in Dalian and Panjin, Liaoning, People's Republic of China. DUT, previously renowned as one of the Big Four Institutes of Technology, is among China's top universities for engineering and technology. It is also one of the national key universities administered directly under the Ministry of Education of China.
As the largest institution of higher education in Liaoning Province in terms of student enrollment, Dalian University of Technology (abbreviated as DUT or DLUT) is renowned in China for its rigorous training in engineering and science. Its ranking in Engineering programs is usually in the top 10 of the nation. The university also offers programs in business, liberal arts, and management. It has 19 schools, 54 bachelor's degree programs, 147 master degree programs, and 107 doctorate degree programs.
With the support of “the 985 Project” and “the 211 Project” funded by the State Ministry of Education, Liaoning Province, and Dalian City, DUT is engaged in grasping the historic opportunity of rejuvenating the old northeast industrial base and carrying out a talent-training strategy in the hope of building DUT into a world-famous research-oriented university.
DUT is the home to three national key laboratories, State Key Laboratory of Structural Analysis for Industrial Equipment, State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering, State Key Laboratory of Fine Chemicals and the home to three Education Ministry Key Laboratories, Key Laboratory of Materials Modification by Laser, Ion and Electron Beams, Key Laboratory of Technology Precision and Non-traditional Machining and Key Laboratory of Industrial Ecology and Environmental Technology. It also owns one National-level Technical Transfer Center.
There are eight members of Chinese Academy of Engineering or of Sciences and 26 Changjiang Scholar professors. The members of Chinese Academies of Engineering or of Sciences are Dahong Qiu, Wanxie Zhong, Gengdong Cheng, Liding Wang, Gao Lin, Guofan Zhao, Zongtuo Wang, Jinzhong Yang.

Lanzhou University, founded in 1909, (simplified Chinese: 兰州大学; traditional Chinese: 蘭州大學; pinyin: Lánzhōu Dàxué) is a major research university located in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, China. It is one of the key universities under Ministry of Education, China(Project 985 & Project 211). It is also the best comprehensive university in northwest of China. It provides programs for undergraduate, graduate students on four campuses—three in Lanzhou city centre and one in Yuzhong (榆中), which is about 30 miles away from the main campus. Total enrollment is approximately 20,000. Undergraduate students study at the Yuzhong campus. There are 6 National Bases for the Training of Researching and Teaching personnel for Fundamental Disciplines. The University operates an additional 35 institutes along with 1 national key Laboratory of the Applied Organic and 3 key laboratories of Arid and Grassland Ecology, West China Environment, Magnetism and Magnetic Materials of the Ministry of Education, a key laboratory of Grassland Agro-ecosystem of the Ministry of Agriculture. Lanzhou University was one of the first universities entitled to enroll Bachelor Master’s and Doctoral degree candidates in 1981. Nankai University (NKU; simplified Chinese: 南开大学; traditional Chinese: 南開大學; pinyin: Nánkāi Dàxué), commonly known as Nankai, is a public research university based in Tianjin on mainland China. Founded in 1919 by educators Zhang Boling (1876-1951) and Yan Fansun (1860-1920), Nankai University is a member of the Nankai serial schools. It is the alma mater of former Chinese Premier and key historical figure Zhou Enlai. Nankai University is regarded as one of the top and first class universities in China.
A key multidisciplinary university directly under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, Nankai University has long been given much attention by the central government. Nankai University is considered a comprehensive university with a complete curriculum that includes the humanities, natural sciences, technology, life sciences, medical sciences and the arts. The University believes in the equal importance of the sciences and the liberal arts, laying a strong foundation with practical and creative characteristics. Nankai University has a well-balanced faculty team in age and specialties, being equipped with excellent academic capability and creative spirit.
Nankai, as of the end of 2013, has 22 colleges and schools, and offers 79 bachelor's degree programs, 231 master's degree programs, and 172 Ph.D. programs. South China University of Technology (SCUT; simplified Chinese: 华南理工大学; traditional Chinese: 華南理工大學; pinyin: Huánán Lǐgōng Dàxué) is a Chinese university located in Guangzhou, capital of the Guangdong province.
Formerly known as South China Institute of Technology, it was established in 1952, through a reorganization process that unified the engineering schools and departments of major universities in Southern China, including the former Zhongshan University, Lingnan University, South China Joint University, and 4 others. In 1960, it was selected as one of 33 National Key Universities, under the direct administration of the Chinese Ministry of Education. The University was renamed as South China University of Technology in 1988.
South China University of Technology (SCUT), formerly known as the South China Institute of Technology, was established in 1952, through the amalgamation of the technical faculties of 12 universities in 5 provinces in central and southern China, including Sun Yat-sen UniversityLingnan UniversityHunan UniversityGuangxi University, among others.




Southeast University (SEU, Pinyin: Dōngnán Dàxué, Simplified Chinese: 东南大学), colloquially Dongda (Pinyin: Dōngdà, Simplified Chinese: 东大) is a public research university located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China. It is one of the oldest universities and the first coeducational university in China. It is a member of both Project 985 and Project 211, and sponsored by the Ministry of Education of China aiming to become a well-known world-class university.
SEU has been ranked among the top 20 research universities in China, and among the top 500 in the world. In the official subject ranking conducted by the Ministry of Education of China, SEU has been ranked top three nationally in 8 fields including architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, art history, civil engineering, electronic engineering, transportation engineering and biomedical engineering.
Its predecessor, Sanjiang Normal College, was established in 1902 as a modern university on the campus of an academy which dates back to 258. In 1921, the school changed its name to National Southeast University and became the second national university in China. Later SEU was renamed to National Central University in 1927 and soon became the nation's flagship university. In 1952, the university was split into eight institutions during the communism revolution. And its engineering school, the largest school in terms of faculty number and student enrollment, stayed in its original campus and form Nanjing Institute of Technology, which changed its name back to Southeast University in 1988.
Southeast University is one of only 32 universities directly administered by the Chinese Department of Education, which are considered the top class universities in China. The university has 16,000 undergraduate students and 10,000 graduate students in over 30 schools and departments. The admission to SEU is very competitive. Normally the university enrolls top 2% high school students from nationwide to its undergraduate programs, and top 5% undergraduate students to its graduate program. Most students are recruited by engineering or some big schools such as School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Energy & Environmental Engineering, School of Information Science & Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, School of Computer Science & Engineering, School of Economics & Management, as well as School of Transportation Engineering. The rest students are enrolled by some smaller schools and departments like School of Automation, School of Electronic Science, and Department of Physics.
There are about 5,600 faculty members in Southeast University. Among all the faculty members, there are 8 members of Chinese Academy, 25 "Changjiang Scholars", 1 fellow of State Department Degree Committee, 9 members of State Department Degree Committee, 31 distinguished national youth research scientists, 7 members (ranking 2nd nationwide) of "863 Projects" expert committee, and 57 excellent Department of Education research scientists.

The university has 64 undergraduate programs, 206 master programs, 109 doctoral programs, as well as 15 postdoctoral research sites. In the most recent official rankings summary, 6 programs are top 5 and another 6 programs are top 10 nationwide. Especially the School of Biomedical Science & Engineering ranks first place. The university has a top research ability. Tianjin University (simplified Chinese: 天津大学; traditional Chinese: 天津大學; pinyin: Tiānjīn Dàxúe) is a national university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education of China. It is the first modern higher education institution in China. It was established in 1895 as Tientsin University/Imperial Tientsin University (Chinese: 天津北洋西學學堂/天津北洋西学学堂) and later Peiyang University (Beiyang University) (Chinese: 北洋大學堂/北洋大学堂; pinyin: Běiyáng Dàxúetáng). In 1951, after restructuring, it was renamed Tianjin University, and became one of the largest multidisciplinary engineering universities in China. The university was one of the first 16 universities accredited by the State in 1959. It is also among the first group of institutions of higher learning in the national “211-Project” to which priority is given in construction. In order to carry out the “21st Century Education Revitalizing Action Plan”, in late 2000 the Ministry of Education and Tianjin Municipality signed an agreement which aims to build Tianjin University into a world famous university in the 21st Century.
In 1895, Sheng Xuanhuai submitted his memorial to the Guangxu Emperor to request for approval to set up a modern higher education institution in Tianjin. After approval on October 2, 1895, Peiyang Western Study School was founded by him and American educator Charles Daniel Tenney and later developed to Peiyang University. It was the first Chinese university providing four year degree modern higher education.[1] The university modeled itself on the famous European and American institutions of higher learning and aimed to rejuvenate China by training qualified personnel with new scientific and technological knowledge. In 1951, after restructuring, Peiyang University was renamed Tianjin University.
